CARBON SMART

BETTER THAN CODE
20% MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT THAN HOMES BUILT TO CODE
At Country Homes, we believe we can all play an important role in promoting a cleaner, greener world for generations to come. In support of our green building initiatives, we have gone the extra step to build with 20% greater environmental efficiency and receive third-party verification from Better Than Code.

What goes into a home that is built 20% Better Than Code? Thicker insulation, higher-quality HVAC and ERV systems, environmentally friendly appliances and fixtures, and a laser-sharp focus on building greater long-term value into every home.

When you live in a Country Homes Better Than Code energy-rated home, you can breathe easier knowing your home systems are helping you save energy (and lower your utility bills).

You’ll experience a better, healthier and more comfortable indoor living environment for your family and guests. You’ll be helping the planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preserving valuable natural resources. And you’ll enjoy unmatched peace of mind because our homes are evaluated, inspected and labelled by an independent, third-party energy advisor.

NET ZERO

THE NEXT GENERATION IN HOMEBUILDING SCIENCE

At Country Homes, we’re passionate about innovating the next generation of environmentally friendly homes. To support this important mission, Christian Rinomato, one of our company’s principal stakeholders, has completed his training in Net Zero building science. The Net Zero standard is to develop energy-efficient homes that generate their own power and consume “net-zero” energy.

INTRODUCING THE COUNTRY HOMES DISCOVERY PROJECT

Christian and Country Homes are excited to lead a ground-breaking Net Zero Home research study in our West Country community in Milton. The objective is to learn which innovative building techniques best support environmental efficiency and sustainability.

For the Discovery Project, we are developing two semi-detached homes, each with their own Net Zero approach. Each home will use its own energy advisor and receive third-party verification.
One home is being developed in partnership with Enbridge and Building Knowledge through the Optimum Home Program with the goal of achieving the Net Zero label. The other home is being developed with ClearSphere to produce a low-carbon and low-cost home.
Through this year-long endeavour, we hope to gain important insights into how to optimize our homebuilding techniques and build the self-sustainable homes of the future.
